She was born in ‘94 and probably has more sexiness in her little fingernail than most girls will possess their entire lives. I’m talking about Kansas born model, Lindsay Wixson who raised eyebrows when Miuccia Prada hand picked her to open her Prada show back in 2009, aged 15. The same season, this sassy American fronted the advertising campaign for Miu Miu, Prada’s diffussion label.
Yes, these images were suggestive, particularly considering her age. However Lindsey has gone on to prove that she’s not just a one trick pony and has more than youth on her side. Capable of transforming her innocent doe-eyed face into whatever is required, this girl has gone on to front numerous campaigns and feature in a staggering 18 major editorial shoots this season alone. Suprisingly versatile, her impressive body of work and effervescent attitude ensure we’ll be seeing a lot of this lady for seasons to come…

With such a plethora of blogs out there, I find I’m constantly discovering something new, unique and totally inspiring out there.
Miranda is someone I’ve fallen for. The daughter of designer Lydia Delgado, Miranda Makaroff is a Spanish native, currently living in LA. Part crazy wild child, part endearing ingénue, what I love about this girl is her ability to embrace anything and everything creative in her world.
An aspiring actress/model/artist/musician, she is constantly updating Hermanas Miranda with her latest projects. Sometimes dark and moody, but always playful, she blogs about her life, her adventures and her inspiration.
It’s just refreshing to see people putting it all out there, for the world to see. I find myself always so hung up on what people are going to think, so I find her willingness to be open completely captivating.
Lesley Vance is an LA based artist who I’ve recently discovered. Her pieces are oil on linen, but I can’t help imagine that this series is actually random slivers of semi precious stones and petrified wood. Curious….

In my mind, I can perfectly picture Sofia Coppola as my fabulous new girlfriend. Not only is she a phenomenal screen writer and an intuitive filmmaker, but just imagine how good raiding her wardrobe would be!
And to top off this little day dream of mine, I think I need Sofia’s Louis Vuitton handbag. Classic, understated elegance - like the lady herself.

It may be the afterglow of receiving my beautiful new Holga today, but I’m itching to run outside and start happy snapping. I love the idea of taking a picture, saving up to develop the film, and waiting in anxious anticipation to see the results. It’s just so much more real than digital. It’s tangible - a memory right there in your hands.
A throw back to the mass produced cameras of the 80s, this plastic fantastic box of analogue joy isn’t for those who need instant gratification. It’s a loose cannon. Using 120 film, photography with this baby is a good lesson in letting go. Random blurring/scratching/bleeding/light exposure are all a part of the charm so don’t try and wrangle it…just go with the flow.
I’m hoping 2011 is going to be full of creative energy. And I’m excited to take my Holga along for the ride!
