where being called odd is a compliment....curated.
This just landed in my inbox from Barneys and blew my mind.

It’s so much more about style than fashion. Here are my faves from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s selection. All three would be welcome additions to my daily life.

Once in a while she’d give me some lilacs to take home and they were always fine-looking lilacs, and I always felt good, walking down the street, holding the lilacs high and proud like glasses of that famous children’s drink: the good flower wine.
moving in.

Yay! Today I finally have a new home to call my own.
After months of living out of suitcases I am so craving the comfort of my own little corner of the world. Our little family of three, including our newly acquired puppy, is as happy as can be.
So it’s off for a weekend of furniture shopping and general nesting. Cannot wait!

yes she can.

It’s not often I feel the urge to post red carpet looks, because honestly, who doesn’t look great with that much primping and preening.
But I have to say that the lovely Ms Kruger has swept me away with this one. Tousled natural hair, minimal jewelry and makeup and a knockout dress. This is the Versace I remember, made for bombshells and party girls, who were all enamoured with Gianni. It still makes me sad thinking about the day news of his death broke. Such a pointless tragedy that meant one more unique creative was snatched away from the world too soon.

Gearing up for a beach holiday. Can’t wait to sun myself and completely relax.
In just a day or two it’s easy to forget your troubles and remember how lucky you really are.

Getting so inspired by the simplest things from Caroline. Unruly ponytails, ripped denim and oversized knits. My favourites.

Having limited access to great shopping has been more of a blessing than a curse.
Purging from aimless consumerism is so much more refreshing than any other cleanse I’ve been on. It’s made me reconsider what I purchase and why.

It’s also made me work with what I’ve got and put together some more unusual looks. And that has been fun! Like these supergas with a sexy shift and blazer…unexpected but completely right.

flick it.

It’s been almost 6 months since I’ve worn foundation.
Now it feels completely unnecessary. It smothers and asphyxiates your skin a day at a time.
These days I’d rather toy with a swipe of matte lip colour or a flick of ebony liner. I don’t mind if I don’t look so flawless because it’s all just a mirage. I’d rather just roll with it.

addicted.

Sometimes the best part of the cinema experience comes after you leave.
Some films just seem to haunt you and hang in the air for a while, making you question what really happened and how you feel about it. Shame, the critically acclaimed Steve McQueen directed masterpiece really puzzled me. At first it was the graphic shock of witnessing someone so deeply entrenched in an addiction…so hollow and lost and unable to find a way out.
Maybe we never do? Maybe someone of us never quite recover and find a way back to normality. Or maybe we all just deal with our battle scars differently, unaware that we are as equally damaged.
These questions have been with me for days, swirling around.

what goes around.

If I could turn back time and escape to the past, I’d got to the roaring 20s in a heartbeat.
Whether its Fitzgerald books or Cole Porter tunes or silk turbans it’s always been my favourite. Full of frivolity and fun, but somehow it always comes of a little costumey when I try it in real life.
But sidestepping a little to the left, blending old with new, Benah seems to have got it completely right in their current look book. Delicate beading, drop waists and silk scarves matched back with clean makeup, doe eyes and the best accessories around are making me swoon.
In short, a 20s triumph.
